About the Author Kim Law wrote her first story, “The Gigantic Talking Raisin,” in elementary school. Although it was never published, it was enough to whet her appetite for a career in writing. First, however, she would try her hand at a few other passions: baton twirling, softball, and music, to name a few. Voted Bookworm and Most Likely to Succeed in high school, she went on to earn a college degree in mathematics. Law spent years working as a computer programmer and raising her son, and she now devotes her time and energy to writing romance novels (none of which feature talking raisins). She is a past winner of the Romance Writers of America’s Golden Heart Award and currently serves as president for her local RWA chapter. A native of Kentucky, she lives with her husband in Middle Tennessee

9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Inconsistent By Bridget pas Jones The previous reviews have given an idea about the story and the style. This is a small-town romance and quite sweet. The level of curiosity in the town is actually pretty high, even for this type of novel. As soon as Lee Ann moves, someone calls her mother to comment. It did not make me want to live in Sugar Springs ;-)A couple of things bothered me. It is fraternal twins which run in families, not identical twins, and certainly not on the father's side. Just a small detail, but annoying.At the start of the book, Lee Ann seems to say that Reba was not a particularly good mother and yet we see her as a good grandmother, helping out and generally supporting the girls. I can't imagine how a mother like Reba and a sister like Lee Ann could have Stephanie, and either I didn't hear it, (I listened in audio version) or there was not much explanation on who Stephanie's father was or what happened to him, as she was Lee Ann's half-sister. I felt as if there was something missing in the story. Either the part about Reba not being a good mother should have been edited out, or it should have been explained.I really felt that too much time was spent going over and over the same discussions and too much time either in Lee Ann or Cody's heads. It is a shame, because I liked the family set-up, the depiction of the two girls and life in the town when they were not spying on each other.

When the surgeon delivered them - prematurely, by cesarean section - he found her laced with cancer. Six days later, she died - leaving her twins for Lee Ann to raise.Suddenly Cody Dalton, the twins' father, is back in Sugar Springs.Cody had been Lee Ann's high school sweetheart. She came home one afternoon to find Cody and her sister making out mostly naked on the couch. When she saw them, Stephanie laughed at her, Lee Ann ran to her room - and Cody broke windows, tore down the town's statue in the square, and left town. There hasn't been a single word or any kind of support from Cody as Lee Ann raised the girls as her own. She has also nurtured her hatred of her ex-boyfriend for thirteen years; she doesn't want anything to do with him. But he is the girls' father - they are his children too.Sugar Springs is a small town. Cody quickly learns that Lee Ann has twin daughters. While Lee Ann makes an effort to keep out of his way, Cody seeks her out. They both realize that they still react to each other, but Lee Ann is fighting her attraction and Cody has no idea about being a father - but he wants to try.This story of how they try to deal with each other at arm's length while both distrust each other keeps the reader involved. You want to know how they work out their problems - this is a romance, after all - you know they will. But Ms Law throws enough obstacles in their path to stymie almost any romance.How will they work it out?

Jorges Lee Ann London had big dreams as a teenager that all got torn away on the day she came home and found out that the love of her life had just slept with her half-sister. Her sister turns up pregnant, and then dies of cancer almost immediately after giving birth to twin girls, so instead of going off to college and realizing her dreams, Lee Ann stays in Sugar Springs to raise the girls. Thirteen years later, her well-ordered world turns upside down when Cody Dalton, the girls' father, comes back to fill in for the town veterinarian when she goes on maternity leave.Believing Cody knew all about the girls and refused to step up as their father, Lee Ann isn't about to just let him into their lives until he proves himself. She also isn't willing to just forgive and forget that he slept with her sister when he was supposedly in love with her. Of course, Cody finds out the truth before Lee Ann has a chance to tell him, and they all suffer some angst. I'm not a fan of stories wherein the conflict could be solved in a single conversation if the characters would just TALK to each other, but the whole secret baby situation wasn't dragged out as long as I feared it would be and the story actually moved past it rather quickly. Instead, it deals with Cody getting to know his girls and having a few stumbles as a father, while he and Lee Ann work at getting over his mistakes in the past. The book does have a few issues with timing, and there are some important conversations that Lee Ann and Cody put off for flimsy reasons that made it obvious the author was just trying to string the reader along...which became too long. Ditto on the sex scene, which didn't quite fit with the personalities of the characters and felt as if it was pulled from a pile of stock sex scenes somewhere. The resolution got unnecessarily convoluted, as well, and painted Cody in a very weak light when instead he should have come through with shining colors, but this is an unfortunate trend I have seen in a lot of romances of late, so someone must like it.On the whole, though, this was a very decent, well-written modern romance with well-rounded characters. I wanted to see them work through their problems and have the happily ever after they deserved.
