This is a novel about 5 different women, each from a different background, going through the emotional roller coaster of having empty arms. One is struggling with infertility, one is struggling with post abortion syndrome, one is struggling with having an empty nest and loneliness, one is struggling to make things right after a failed marriage, and the other a young girl who just found out she was pregnant.... Beautifully told, each chapter dives you deeper in the psyche of these women until you too are feeling their pain, struggles, and fears. And because God is with all these women, regardless of where they are in their walk with Him, the characters find HOPE, FAITH, JOY, LOVE, & PEACE. And as a reader, it was so easy to rejoice with a few tears of happiness as I finished the last page!

The story of each character accurately portrays the many feelings of those in similar circumstances I have witnessed throughout my thirty-four years of public service. I work on anti-gang strategies to help youth become resistant to the pressure of joining a gang. I see so many kids; just like Lexie, who are crying for help, have no support, and no place to go. Definitely not a romantic comedy like other books by Janice, but it describes the personal struggles and tests of faith suffered by so many people throughout the world.

Buy one for yourself and another for someone with empty arms By Kathleen Turner Touching on topics close to the hearts of women - infertility, abortion, and family relationships, among others - Thompson skillfully blends seemingly different lives to not only fill empty arms but also empty hearts. The characters in this novel are so real they leap off the page, and the burdens they bear will along with the solutions Thompson provides will stay with you long after the story is finished. I will never look at these topics the same again.
