Laura Trewin is desperate for a new start. So she jumps at the chance to return to Cornwall, her childhood home, with her young son, Sam. She manages to get a job at the Tregullick Adventure Centre. The business is all the widowed owner Richard Clemo and his family have got and Laura quickly realises that they need her help if it is to survive. It’s all hands on deck to make sure the place doesn’t fold – especially when elder son Greg can’t come back from his honeymoon in time for the all-important launch. Richard is counting on the adventure centre being a success – but is that all he cares about? Are feelings between him and Laura just those of an employee and her boss? Or is there something more? Everything seems to be going well for Laura, until a man from the past starts to re-appear. A man who Laura was desperately trying to get away from. Martin Lovelock appeared charming when Laura first met him, until she began to see a darker side… All Laura wants is a safe, loving home where she can bring up her son. But will she ever find it? Or will she forever be Waiting for Love? 'A story that touched my heart.' - Holly Kinsella, best-selling author of Uptown Girl. I found myself not able to put it down. Emma's niece Casey is living in hell and her one bright spot is Max. As Max works his way deeper into Satan's Creed MC his only goal is to get Casey out and destroy Creed. With an explosive conclusion that had my jaw dropping with revelation after revelation I have to say this book is definitely one of my top 5 reads of the year.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. One helluva story! AC does it again... By Sandi Mejer First of all....5 stars! No doubt that this book deserves them. We pick up in Truth where Dirty left off. Max has his nose in the ins and outs of the Creed MC. Hanger (VP of Creed MC) is still spewing crazy. Viktor the Russian has ties with Creed. Ties of business and ties to the past. Viktor trust Max enough to want Max to work for him. By Max agreeing to work for Viktor, he is promised to be given the information he needs to find his sister's (Marie) murderer. The plans for the rescue of Casey are set. Max is unaware of what exactly the plans Aimes and Low have in mind. But be sure "they are gonna blow some sh.. up". While Max waits for Aimes and Low to give him the heads up we read on and get more involved with the characters. Cilas remains quiet, but ever the strong presence at the Creed compound. Looking after Viktor's girls (the one's he plans on selling or as he likes to justify it...saving). Cilas is especially protective of Casey and Anna. Anna is special to Viktor and has been with him for a long time. But no matter what Viktor feels for Anna, she is his property. The story builds itself with suspense. AC titling this book Truth is just that, Truth. We find answers to the questions that we are given in Dirty. As we get the truth we are feeling many things. Some of the truths were very painful to learn. Other truths had me smiling to myself and saying, "I thought so." Even had me shedding a few tears at times. I want to comment also on my take on how AC Bextor handled this book and her audience. I hope I am not alone in this acknowledgment. She gave her readers more than just the cookie cutter MC program. Alpha guy, MC, girl, sexual tension, misunderstanding, sex, sex, sex. She chanced that her followers wanted more out of her MC story. She gave it a sensitive and dark subject. She handled it well. She gave us characters that were more than just filler for the pages. They had reasons for being in the story. Em and Max spent a lot of this book apart. And still I didn't feel like their relationship suffered in the story. Many of the characters in this book are interesting enough to have a story of their own. These are developed characters. Says a lot about AC's writing.

Would you make the ultimate sacrifice, take By TSRBR Overall Rating: 4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆What would you do to save the ones you love? When family means everything to you! Would you make the ultimate sacrifice, take it to the point of no return? Martyr your very soul! In A. C. Bextor’s continuation of her first book Dirty in the Vengeance Duet series, she unveiled a world of horrific cruelty, human trafficking and the hidden domain of the real 100% MC that left her readers gasping. From the beginning of book two, Truth the story unfolds with even more twist added to the plot. You will not want to miss one word in this remarkable journey of Max and Emilyn as they search for a way to find Truth and redemption!Max knew from the start that Emma was the one, but he also felt that she was too good for him. Emotions and instincts he had no idea were a part of the man he really is, kicked in when he was faced not only with Emilyn but also the child held captive, Casey. A connection was formed that called to him to take whatever steps that were needed to rescue her and keep her safe. Max finds himself walking a dangerous precipice, one that could cost him his very life. His vow to avenge his sister’s murder is a specter that refuses to release him and haunts his dreams as he pursues a way to save Casey and keep Emma safe. The majority of this romantic suspense novel is told from Max’s POV and gives insight into the essence of this extraordinary character while telling of his unbelievable search and rescue mission. Ms. Bextor has created a hero in this book, that you will find hard to forget and wish it was possible to meet him in the real world! Max is everything a true alpha male should be. He is protective, caring and strong while still gentle as he puts those he loves above everything else. The realism and exposure of the horrors of human trafficking and corruption by those involved by this multi-talented author is so uniquely presented, that it is like looking through a window into that world! Once again A.C. Bextor spins a web of romantic intrigue and happily ever after that you will want to make a part of your must read list!

Navigating Life with Multiple Sclerosis (Neurology Now Books), by Kathleen Costello, Ben W Thrower, Barbara S Giesser

Review "Navigating Life with MS is authored by Dr. Barbara Giesser, a highly respected neurologist who has set a high bar of comprehensive and collaborative care in MS as a professional standard. This book, whose topics range from a definition of the disease, to the diagnostic and treatment process, lifestyle issues such as reproduction and self-efficacy, also provides the reader with a look into the future. Although targeted toward the lay reader, healthcare professionals will find this a remarkable teaching tool for novices in the field as well as patients and their families. This book is a MUST for a library on multiple sclerosis and is a model for other such works on long-term chronic illnesses." --June Halper, MSN, APN-C, MSCN, FAAN, Adult Nurse Practitioner, Chief Executive Officer, Consortium of MS Centers, Hackensack, NJ; and Executive Director, International Organization of Multiple Sclerosis Nurses

"Kathy Costello, Ben Thrower, and Barbara Giesser, have produced a book for people with MS, which is about the facts, nothing but the facts. This book allows the reader to get started on the right path and navigate the current MS map to live a more fulfilling life despite the diagnosis. It is well written and will convert a non-medically trained person to one with fluency about MS. Managing MS is about disease management, symptom management, and person (psychological) management. The authors have hit on each and have explained the use of pharmacological (drug) therapies, rehabilitative therapies, and psychological, mental health therapies with a dash of practical financial management. This is an essential resource for those interested in multiple sclerosis for any reason. My hat is off to the authors!" --Randall T. Schapiro, MD, FAAN, President, The Schapiro MS Advisory Group; and Clinical Professor of Neurology (Retired), University of Minnesota, Minneapolis

"This book will be equally handy to individuals with MS, to family members, and to healthcare providers as it's written with all of these groups in mind." --Everyday Health

"Navigating Life With Multiple Sclerosis is without a doubt a must have read for anyone newly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. For those already diagnosed with MS the book offers a clear and concise up to date resource complete with a glossary that will most certainly result in you having a better knowledge of the state of multiple sclerosis as it is today. ... For a family with a loved one recently diagnosed with MS this is simply a MUST READ, there is just no question about it." --MS Unites

"The authors provide a succinct and easy-to-read summary of the important biomedical points in the literature... Although this topic may be upsetting for those who have minimal symptoms or are newly diagnosed, it is often not covered and is essential information. This further demonstrates the authors' dedication to providing a comprehensive guidebook to those who are living with MS and their families." --PsycCRITIQUES

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Very informative book on Multiple Sclerosis!!! By Amazon Customer Navigating Life with Multiple Sclerosis by Dr. Barbara Giesser, Dr. Ben Thrower and Kathleen Costello is an excellent book for patients who are newly diagnosed with MS or those who have had MS for some time. I am an MS Certified Nurse working with MS patients every day and they each come to me with differing levels of knowledge and misconceptions. I encourage my patients to empower themselves with knowledge from reliable sources. When patients know and understand their MS, MS Symptoms and the drugs that slow relapses, they feel empowered and are often less stressed as compared to those patients who do not take charge of educating themselves. There are good books out there for MS but this one is top notch!!! This book can provide an overall education to the newly diagnosed patient or serve as a reference book to someone who has had MS for a while and just needs to refresh their knowledge. Thank you for providing this very informative and invaluable book for our MS patients! Diana H. RN,BSN,MSCN

1 of 2 people found the following review helpful. This book contains incorrect information! Read with caution! By Jason I make it a practice to not give a book a one star review. However, I was diagnosed with MS two years ago, and what I have learned is staggering. Books like these are terribly detrimental to people with MS. Please read with caution. There is good information in this book on traditional treatments; however, the discussion on new treatments such as Vitamin D therapy and HSCT (stem cell) treatment is actually wrong to the point of dishonesty. As an example: Dr. Richard Burt's study on HSCT with Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago has shown excellent efficacy in treating relapse remitting MS. From a January 20th, 2015 article in JAMA:"Outcome analysis was available for 145 patients with an average follow-up of 2.5 years. On a measure of disability (Expanded Disability Status Scale [EDSS] score), there was significant improvement in 41 patients (50 percent of patients tested at 2 years) and in 23 patients (64 percent of patients tested at 4 years). “To our knowledge, this is the first report of significant and sustained improvement in the EDSS score following any treatment for MS,” the authors write.Receipt of HSCT was also associated with improvement in physical function, cognitive function and quality of life. There was also a reduction on another measure of clinical disease severity, volume of brain lesions associated with MS seen on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Four-year relapse-free survival was 80 percent and progression-free survival was 87 percent." (--end JAMA excerpt.)When we compare this to what is said in Navigating Life with Multiple Sclerosis on HSCT we find a problem: The author's write, "Early trials have shown some success in shutting down inflammation and relapses in people with aggressive forms of MS. This procedure has not been show to reverse established disability, however."To say HSCT shows no improvement is flat-out untrue. As noted above, a well designed clinical trial shows 80 percent progression free survival (what this book describes as 'some' which is extremely misleading) and half + of the treated patients showed 'significant' improvement in EDSS scores. Note that other HSCT trials globally are showing similar results. This is also true of the Swank diet, which was run from the 40's to 80's and showed a diet low in saturated fats can have a marked impact on disease progression. This book called this trial 'poorly designed' which it was not. They state there was no control (everyone else in the world who had MS at the time as there were no other therapies during this time can serve as a control. Also, the author's fail to note that many people fell off the Swank diet. Those who did experienced an normal disease progression. This alone can function as a kind of control.) And that it wasn't double blinded, but double blinding was not part of clinical trials anywhere during this era. The key point is that out of 144 people, all showed significant reduction in disease progression. This book states: "For example, there was no control group who did not follow the diet, so it is not known if the improvements would have occurred anyway, as sometimes happens in persons with MS." Are you kidding me?!?! That is ridiculous! The improvement of MS on its own is quite an exception, and the authors of this book are suggesting that Dr. Swank was potentially lucky enough to pick 144 people who all had that spontaneous improvement or deceleration in disease progression. Using that logic to discount such an important study is ridiculous.Note that with MS there are many sources who are denying these scientifically proven treatments. Why? Some would argue that it takes too much dedication on the part of the patient and western medicine has given up on that level of patient involvement. Others would note that HSCT has no ability to be patented as it is a one time treatment, diets have no medical profit, and a patient on MS medications makes pharma companies $40,000 + a year. I'm not aligning myself with any one reason, I just know the information contained within this book is inaccurate. There is so much that someone who has been diagnosed with MS can do, and they need HOPE not misinformation. This book has critical errors which need to be highlighted. As far as I go... I have followed every scientific study I could from Vitamin D supplementation to meditation to diet and I now have two years with absolutely no disease activity. It might be that I am just lucky (or maybe my Copaxone is just working 400% better for me than the average person. That's possible. But still, can't hurt to eat right, exercise, and make sure I'm not Vitamin D deficient. If you want a good book on MS, one with hope and open mindedness, yet still being based on scientific studies, avoid this one and get Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis by George Jelinek.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. The Coming of Age of a young Nigerian Girl who holds onto her Dreams. By Howard Lipman This stunning novel, set in Nigeria is a coming of age book about a young girl 9 years of age initially who wants to pass exams early so that she can go on to the next stage of her education. She experiences and feels a sense of the ‘divine’ within her and speaks to and hears that voice as ‘herself’. Descriptions of family life and religion are the background that introduces us to the culture of this part of the world. The family is a positive influence, and despite the death of her sister, Adaugo goes on, writing and illustrating books. We see her development through life’s challenges up to the age of 25. Unsatisfying relationships stand in the way of true happiness. We can all relate to her—her struggle to find peace and fulfillment is aided by the sense of the ‘divine’ destiny—she sees ‘signs' and we witness the spiritual growth of a young woman who in another time in this part of the world would have been spotted as a potential ‘Oracle’ or ‘Shaman’ of a tribe. Through her perseverance she distinguishes herself, always believing in her dreams of relying on her own sense of destiny through wisdom to enlightenment. If your dreams are being discouraged or disparaged in any way you should read this charming, well-plotted beautifully written book. (Review by Howard Lipman, pen name PanOrpheus, author of the ‘Delphic Oracle’, 'Songs and Stories’ and 'Mage and Source' series of Science Fiction/Fantasy, visionary/metaphysiacal Steampunk Alternate History books)

By Joe Prentis Twisted in a positive way is a coming of age novel about a Nigerian girl who struggles with the problems that are universal to everyone growing up in today’s world. Adougo knows from an early age that she wants to be everything she can be, despite the efforts of her schoolmates and her family who want her to conform to her culture. The story starts when she is nine years old. At school, she is subjected to the thoughtless jibes and lack of consideration by those around her. She has to struggle with choices and the fact that she is somewhat different from the others around her. Abdougo is a keen observer of life and has an inner strength that allows her to make some mature decisions as she goes from childhood to becoming an adult. After graduation with a Bachelor of Science degree, she begins her career in banking but decides that she wants more. Her choice of friends, her career goals, and her family do not make her decisions easy. She realizes that it is her life, and she owes it to herself to be and do what she decides is right for her rather than yielding to her family and friends selfish desires. This as an excellently written novel that introduces us to another culture through the author’s careful use of language and descriptive terms. I love this book, and I think you will like it too.

She searches desperately to find contentment By Poet's Eyes Twisted in a Positive Way is set in Nigeria, giving you a bit of that culture through meals and the occasional Nigerian phrase of wisdom or conversation, always explained. A mesmerizing account of coming of age, trying to become what has been expected with the help of a ‘personal friend’ always chiming in wisdom and direction.Read the book to find out who this ‘personal friend’ is!A book touching on experiences and thoughts, as the main character lives her life from a young age, through school years to her current job at age twenty-five. Stumbling through relationships but never really satisfied. She searches desperately to find contentment, maybe even happiness as she moves through life.Always being open to the ‘signs’ that came to her disguised in many fashions, giving her mind avenues to travel as the universe spoke. As the years passed, she finds herself delving into the search for that authentic self, lost in her attempt to be what has been expected of her thus far. Wisdom abounds in the words coming from her ‘personal friend’ always giving her food for thought even pointing her in directions she may not have sought.Keep your dreams alive always!!!
