One of the ladies from the senior center lovingly knitted those red mittens, and Gracia had her eye on them. They were the perfect match to her winter apparel.Filled with innocence and dreams for the future, Gracia felt that kind of life was far out of reach. Her lack of self esteem held her back from those things that every girl desires. There were times I wanted to shake her and other times I loved her. She demonstrated such a warm Christian spirit, and I admired her willingness to step forward and take on tasks that most young women would balk at.Jake was a bit aloof and hard to read, and his attitude frustrated me at times, but I loved his character, devoted to his father and the farm he loved. His devotion and compassion for family and community are definite assets to this hardworking young man's character.Sparks flew as these two characters clashed and misunderstood each other, yet the atmosphere sizzled as a flash of attraction smoldered beneath the surface. Is this relationship going anywhere? Is there even a relationship to question? Pick up a copy of this sweet Christmas novella and find out for yourself if the sparks ignite and light a fire under Jake and Gracia!Disclaimer: I received a PDF copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. Hilton has combined the two and come up with a wonderfully delightful story that is just pure entertainment.Gracia Dykstra and Jake Trivett have a little bit of history between them, and although Gracia had always felt something for Jake, the feeling never seemed to be mutual. Add to that the fact that Jake moved to California and it all became a moot issue. Or rather, it was a moot issue until now. because much to Gracia’s surprise, Jake has returned. Jake’s return finds Gracia and Jake working together to raise funds for the Senior Center where Gracia works while helping Jake and his dad get their tree farm back up and running. Their time spent together has its ups and downs, misunderstandings, crossed signals, and an old flame thrown in for good measure. All of this had me laughing one minute, wanting to shake someone the next minute and sighing the next. I loved the banter between Jake and Gracia as well as the interactions of the other characters. It made for one great emotional roller coaster resulting in a fun, romantic and entertaining read that held me captive from beginning to end.*****I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Light-hearted reading that leaves you smiling By GreyHairedLady As other reviews have already summarized the book, I'd like to take a different approach.Gracia is a very likable character -- although there were times I wanted to slap her upside the head and tell her to quit expecting life to imitate the romantic fiction she enjoys reading. She was letting too many romantic-fiction-fueled thoughts steal the joyful reality that was right there in front of her.Jake is equally likable -- and also deserves a good slap upside the head. Come on man, can't you see what's going on?Now, isn't it a sign of a good book when you feel like you could be interacting with the characters? I enjoyed reading this light-hearted book and look forward to more books like this from Laura Hilton. My only issue may be with the title itself -- I kept waiting for the Christmas mittens to enter the story. The title just didn't seem to fit the tale.
