However, if you are from Atlanta, have been to Atlanta or love Atlanta, you will appreciate it even more as there are alot of Atlanta area shoutouts in this work. This is the first book I've read by Ms. Kenni York and this is a steal for .99! I've read books that weren't as entertaining and cost 10 times more! So its a fabulous price and really good deal.I bought this book on a Sunday and finished it in two days. I was hooked. Not only is the conversation style and flow very believable, but the plot is addictive! The characters are super-uber drama-fied and all have something going on that will hook you and have you wanting to read more! I have not read a more thoroughly entertaining book since 'Whats His is Mine' by D. Poole or the classic 'Fly Girls' by Omar Tyree. The best part about it is that there is more to come! I must admit, the most disappointing part is that the sequel is not ALREADY out because its really juicy, lots of twists and turns and a OOO-wee type ending. If you are looking for a really good urban read and you like it with all the fabulous bells and whistles (aka drama).... check it out.

I enjoyed the format that the book was written in, getting different stories from the perspectives of the different girls - reminded me of my old Baby Sitter's Club days. With that respect the nostalgia that you can get from this is very deep. I've never had a GROUP of friends like this but I kinda wish that I did now. This is my second 'urban' novel and I'm still not sure if the genre is for me but "The Girls" is a good read and you won't want to put it down.

York tells the story of friendship and loyalty through the eyes of 4 teenager friends. Break ups, make-ups, materialistic, wild, crazy you name it, it's here. Imagine a few teens trying to live and thrive on the back drop of drug infested times, how do they make it out? Or do they?If there was a party you bets believe this foursome didn't disappoint when it came to style. What was disappointing was some of the decisions they made, but then I had to remember their age, but that didn't stop me from wanting to jump through the pages and strangle someone if I could. When I first got the book I thought wow this is a BAB (big a__ book) I wasn't sure what to expect from this read, I just kept turning pages. As I did I found the characters and situations were very engaging and realistic, considering their age. We all have our share of friends who we are down with and most of us have been through thangs with one another, but there is a bond. We might not agree with our circle of friends but we love the person and leave the behavior. These four seem to learn life lessons as they move and interact with one another, whether those lesson prove to be positive or negative I will never tell, read the book.A complimentary copy of this book was provided by the author for the purpose of this reviewMissyReaders Paradise3.5 book marks
