Madison & Luke are something else, Madison comes from money but doesn't act like a spoiled rich kid, and Luke is from Shady Cove, but has big ideas of where he wants to go and what he wants to do. Madison sits on the beach while her parents have another fight, it seems that is all they do any more. Luke while on break from the family restaurant see's her sitting there foes over to talk to her and they go for ice cream. They have a good talk but he has to get back to work so they make plans for the next night, and he takes her home and drops her off. When he goes to pick her up, she come out on top of the garage below her window, cause again the parents are fight. Her mom is always putting down her & her dad and she is never happy. Madison & Luke go to a little place where everyone goes on the weekend and all the women he normally would she keeps coming up and hugging & kissing on him and he see's Madison is not comfortable so they leave and go to the beach. They talk, laugh, & run down the beach where they lay on the sand together and kiss and play around with each other. When things start to get really heavy Luke puts the brakes on, cause he doesn't want to put Madison in the position she is so much more than that and he won't do that to her. Usually he wouldn't care but there is something about Madison that makes him want to do better by her, so he takes her home with the promise of talking to her the next day. They get together whenever Luke's schedule let's them, but when you work for your family it is hard to get time off, but he manages to get a day off and wants to take Madison on a picnic. They hike some trails to a spot that is a favorite of Luke's and he spread a blanket on the ground under a Beech tree, and they start kissing & playing around, and spend the whole day up there, eating and playing in the stream that is close by. When the day comes to an end and they have to go home Madison is so happy, but mom wrecks that happiness as soon as she walks in. Mom is drunk going on about her dad having an affair, that it's all Madison's fault and totally bums her out that now she thinks all men are bad and ignores Luke for days til he show's up at her door. They work thru everything and spend as much time as they can with each other, When they plan to have a day at Madison's cause mom is going into the city, while very involved with one another, mom comes home to find them and order's Luke out. He only leaves when Madison insist, not wanting to leave her a lone with her mother putting her down and making Madison feels like she's worth nothing, While not paying attention, Luke has and accident and the next day Madison has to leave to go home, but she has tried calling & texting Luke but there is now response. Once she is back home she has to deal with her mom daily til she leaves for college, which is heaven next to home. Everything is going good at school, she met a guy that she thought was nice, and decided she had to get over Luke. She seeing this guy, things get a little heavy sometimes but never out of control, until he invites her to a party, that changes Madison life. When she starts failing she goes home and tries to get on with her life. She ends up getting a job at a gallery and it fits her so well, since she wanted to be an artist but that was never pursued because her mom thought it was a dead end career choice. Michelle her boss encourages her to take some classes which she does and she is much happier and starts to draw and paint again. Mom & dad divorced so once every 6 months she goes to see her dad, and they have lunch, talk a little and then he hands her an envelope of money she is saving for her own place away from her mom. On one of these lunches, they run into Luke and dad invites him to have lunch with them and leaves Luke & Madison after lunch is through and they find out that neither left the other, things happened that cause them to think this and they start talking and realizing that they have so many lost years to make up for. Luke has mad it big, just like he told Madison when they met back on that beach, what his dreams were and he made good on it. Things are going pretty good between them when the past comes back to haunt Madison and she runs to hide. Here I leave you hanging, cause the climatic end is one you have to read to understand. I have some big holes in the story but when you read the book you will know why. It is free with KU.

Paris – The City for Lovers By Mary Clark This was a most enchanting and mesmerising book to read, which really had you on a “knife’s edge” as you experience the ups and downs that both Madison and Luke endure. The couple meet at Sandy Cove and there is an immediate attraction and connection between them. Madison is lonely; her parents are forever fighting and have no time for her. Luke works at his family’s restaurant, but his ambition lies elsewhere – but they agree to spend the summer together. Their plans are brought to an abrupt end when Madison and her mother return to the city, owing to her father’s infidelity. Madison doesn’t hear from Luke and assumes it is over between them, not realising he has been involved in something outside of his control. College turns into a disaster after Madison is subjected to an ordeal she cannot get over, but her love of art is her saving grace. Each lose contact with the other for reasons beyond their control, but four years later fate brings them together once again. Luke has realised his ambition and this proves useful when he is finally able to exert justice for Madison. It takes a long time for Madison to come to terms with everything that has happened in her life, but she now has Luke by her side and she has never felt so loved or so in love. This story was very well-written and the author has added quite a few twists and turns to keep the reader interested. I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending this book. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The only bright spot is meeting Luke. She is not sure what to make of him and his attention. Luke has been a player enjoying what is offered and not wanting any more until Madison. For her, he wants more. Love is rarely simple and the course of there lives take many turns before they can be together. Madison has to deal with a very painful situation and her family is never easy, particularly her mother. It starts out as a sweet, simple story of love. One incident, changes the course of their lives. It does make you think how one event can effect so many other lives. I enjoyed the characters. Madison, in particular, undergoes major changes. While pain may get her down at times, she is a survivor. Luke is a real champion for her.I received a copy in return for a honest review.
